For the past 2 years, I have been the Yorktown Color Guard Captain. When I first joined, I had no idea how much this activity would end up meaning to me. Guard became my passion, my team became my 2nd family, and practice became my home away from home. Being a captain is not at all easy, but it is the most worth wile thing I’ve ever done. The chance to teach and inspire is more than I’d ever imagined.
My Experiences
Over my 8 seasons at Yorktown, I have been apart of the flag, rifle, and saber line. Not only have I been a soloist, but I’ve also gotten to run practices, teach new members, run guard bake sales and the Guard’s Instagram.

Jersey Surf; Drum Corp International
I had the opportunity to travel to over 16 different states last summer preforming with the Jersey Surf Drum Corps. DCI defines their drum corps as “the world’s most elite and exclusive marching ensembles for student musicians and performers.” It was such an honor to be apart of such an incredible community. We got to live from gym to gym touring all around the west coast. I learned so much as a person and performer. Not only did I learn how important dedication, perseverance, and determination are, but I also got to learn how much I need sunscreen when I’m practicing outside almost 16 hours a day.
